WHY ARE WE? |
Unity Christian Theatre Company was originally formed in late 1993, to perform an outdoor passion play in Derby City Centre. However despite repeated calls for actors to play the many parts, the vision was not realised at that time. Since then, Unity has consolidated into a dedicated team of actors with a vision to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through drama. This has involved us in a variety of events, from street theatre at local carnivals, full length plays, church worship and outreach evenings of sketches and music. Drama workshops also play an important part in our ministry. These can accommodate any age range from 6 to 106 (although we've never had anyone that old on a workshop to date). All members of the cast undertake this work in their spare time. Our age range is from eighteen to mid fifties, with varied experience and training. Unity is not a drama club, nor is it entertainment for Christians. We believe we have been called into an evangelistic ministry to win the lost for Jesus Christ. Early in 1999, Unity moved the venue for rehearsals from Derby to Belper, a small town about 8 miles north of Derby on the main A6 road. Throughout 2000, Unity performed their fast moving performance "I'm a Frog". They are taking a sabbatical until mid 2008. |
